Pack Calendar

Pack 358 is looking for a new treasurer !

Our pack is in need of a new volunteer treasurer.

The job description:

  •  Help the pack committee and Cubmaster establish a sound financial program for the pack with a pack budget plan.
  • Open or maintain a bank account in the pack's name and arrange for all transactions to be signed by any two of the Cubmaster, pack committee chair, secretary, or treasurer. Approve all budget expenditures.
  • Check all disbursements against budget allowances, and pay bills by check. The pack committee chair should approve bills before payment.
  • Keep up-to-date financial records. Enter all income and expenditures under the proper budget item in the finance section of the Pack Record Book. Credit each Cub Scout with payment of dues.
  • On the request of den leaders, sympathetically counsel with a boy who does not pay dues, determine the reason, and encourage regular payment. If the boy is unable to pay, work out a plan with the Cubmaster and pack committee so that the boy can earn dues.
  • Periodically report on the pack's financial condition at the monthly pack leaders' meeting. Make regular monthly reports to the pack committee at the pack leaders' meeting, and report to the chartered organization as often as desirable on the financial condition of the pack.
  • Provide petty cash needed by leaders. Keep a record of expenditures.

August Scout Activity

Just sending a reminder that there will be a pack activity on August 28th. It was originally scheduled for 0900, but due to football and soccer we will change the time to later in the day at 1600. Please plan to meet in the parking lot of Starkey Park off of Ford Road and Sugar bush.  We will spend approximately 30 minutes with a "Leave No Trace"  (LNT) discussion and presentation, that will get everyone who has not helped their scouts achieve (LNT), get started. We will have our pack hike after, which is another step in achieving (LNT).  You should also be able to accomplish all of the achievements for the Hiking Beltloop during this activity and if you already have it you can work towards your pin.

The LNT Hike activity this Saturday begins promptly at 4:00 PM in the Starkey Park parking lot in Sugarbush (where Christmas trees are dropped off for recycling each year).  We will be finished and the Scouts can be picked-up at 5:45 PM at that location by their parents if they are not staying to participate.  Those participating should wear comfortable clothing / shoes appropriate to go on a hike in the woods as part of the activity.  I have been training for my big hike this Fall in Starkey Park and will also recommend (based on experience) that bug spray be sent along.
